The final in the series of Sonia and Nilay's wedding! This is the wedding day itself. Needless to say, it was absolutely amazing... We started early in the morning while Sonia and Nilay were getting ready with their families. They day proceeded with different Vedic rituals within the ceremony - each with their own deep philosophical meanings and purposes. There was the Groom's procession, the welcoming of the Groom, the prayer to Lord Ganesh, the arrival and giving away of the Bride, the symbol of the holy union, accepting of the sacred vows, steps around the holy fire, seven steps to symbolize the beginning of their journey together, Sindur (Groom placing red powder of the bride's hair symbolizing her as a married woman), tying of the tread around the neck of the Bride and Groom, blessings from a married woman, Kansar (Bride and Groom feed each other), the blessings from a priest, then finally... they had a wonderful vegetarian dinner and a great party!
Since this is the last in the series we really would like to say thank you again, Sonia and Nilay (and all their friends and family) for making us feel so welcome. We (including Alex) had a fantastic time at the wedding and in Fiji. It was an amazing experience that we will never forget (Alex still wont stop talking about it). We wish you the best of luck for the future and hope you have many years of happiness together!
